Royal Caribbean Group’s Celebrity Cruises brand has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Technical Operations Lead on the Entertainment Team reporting to the Senior Manager, Entertainment Technical.
This position will work onsite in Miami, Florida
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead fleetwide recruiting and staffing efforts, including sourcing, onboarding, and evaluating technical entertainment personnel across all ships, ensuring the right talent is in place to meet operational requirements.
- Manage the scheduling of all technical staff, ensuring efficient coverage across vessels while considering safety, availability, and operational needs.
- Act as the main point of contact for group and charter entertainment requirements, coordinating technical support for special events and functions to ensure seamless execution.
- Plan and oversee vendor site visits for safety inspections, maintenance, and staff training—managing vendor travel and logistics.
- Develop, manage, and implement operational initiatives, maintenance protocols, and process improvements fleet-wide, with ongoing assessment for effectiveness.
- Design, develop, and maintain digital data systems and workflows that streamline staffing, training, maintenance, and operational processes, supporting fleet-wide efficiency and data accuracy.
- Support the creation, review, and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to standardize best practices, safety standards, and operational procedures across all vessels.
- Provide technical support remotely and onboard to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and system issues, responding quickly to technical emergencies.
- Create and oversee comprehensive training programs for crew members, including conducting sessions, certifications, and ongoing performance assessments.
- Analyze performance metrics related to staffing, maintenance, and operations, using insights to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Lead the development and deployment of new initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency, and overall fleet operation.
- Manage budgets, procurement, and operational expenses related to staffing, equipment, and projects to ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Oversee digital and social media content related to entertainment branding, careers, and onboard activities.
- Administer the Shipboard Quality Management (SQM) system, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Promote a safety-first environment by establishing and enforcing safety protocols and best practices.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in theatrical management (stage, production, technical) or entertainment administration from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
- Minimum four (4) years professional experience in theatrical management or administration with an emphasis on technology.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of theatrical lighting, audio, rigging and stage automation systems.
- Experience developing and maintaining large production or staffing schedules.
- Experience managing a budget and expenses.
- Prior experience working onboard a cruise ship is highly preferred.
- Web design and digital marketing experience preferred.
- Able to interpret and execute a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to tactfully communicate with a wide range of people including prospective employees, corporate executives, and shipboard staff from all over the world.
- Excellent understanding of the requirements and responsibilities of various theatre technology positions (stage management, lighting, sound, performer flying, etc.).
- Critical problem-solving skills when dealing with unexpected urgent staffing issues that arise.
- Must be outgoing and approachable while representing the brand at industry and recruiting events.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook).
- Experienced in design and creation of PowerPoint presentations / decks.
- Intermediate to Expert knowledge in cost analysis and budget forecasting.
Physical Demands:
While performing job functions you would be required to sit, stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a computer, communicate, listen, and assess information. You may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10 - 15 pounds. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
