Royal Caribbean Group’s Revenue Management Development and Systems Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Lead, Operations Research reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue Management Operations Research.
This role will work in-person in Miami, Florida.
Position Summary:
The Revenue Management Development and Systems team is responsible for data, decision-making tools and analytical needs for the Revenue Planning and Revenue Management teams. The Project Lead serves as the department point person spearheading complex analytical projects to optimize business operations and drive strategic decision making. You will apply advanced mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, simulation, and optimization techniques to solve critical business problems across functions. In this analytical role, you will help guide and coach a team of analysts, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and translate data-driven insights into actionable recommendations. Your work will directly impact efficiency, cost reduction, and overall organizational performance. You will be the subject matter expert for decision supporting systems developed for end users in Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, implements, and supports Revenue Planning and Revenue Management data, systems, and user tools. Successfully apply quantitative methods and techniques, including forecasting, linear regressions, mixed integer programming, optimization and statistical analyses. Responsible for managing a forecast automation tool that includes over $10B in revenue.
- Project Management - Fully owns and executes large projects, manages, and develops planning, requirements gathering, strategy, development, orchestrating all participants, execution and delivery to teams and management. These projects may be carried out by the Development team itself or in coordination with IT.
- Serves as primary backup to management regarding projects, ad hoc requests, reporting, etc.
- Develops in depth knowledge of department data, processes, and jobs across databases. Owns team production reporting.
- Initiate improvements and developments of Revenue Planning and Revenue Management data processes to improve decision making across departments. As shared services, partners with Operations Research, Onboard Revenue, Finance, Rev Planning and Deployment teams to provide technical solutions. Develops new tools for Revenue teams by understanding the teams’ challenges and finding creative solutions the teams will use. Proactively conducts own analyses of business data to present insights to department.
- Leads and develops team members. Guides them in programming, development, and business analysis. Helps them incorporate business knowledge into coding logic, analysis, and development. Guides team in professional development of core competencies.
- Presents to and supports executives. Regularly present recommendations and project updates to all levels of management.
Financial Responsibilities:
- Support reporting, systems, and data processes of current and expected revenue to support daily and strategic revenue decisions and analyses. These tools are critical to the day-to-day decisions made by analysts, impacting the company’s revenue streams.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required (in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Data Analytics, or related field).
- 4-6 years of work experience in related field preferred in experience in data science, with a focus on machine learning and statistical modeling.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to lead projects, including coordinating business and technical needs, developing robust solution, addressing immediate and long-term objectives, conducting proper testing, reviewing impact with business and end users, rolling out implementation and revisiting results following implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement applications using a programming language, especially PL/SQL, Python, R, SAS, JAVA, and UNIX.
- Strong proficiency working with databases, on-premises/cloud, such as Oracle, Databricks, DB2, MySQL, SQL Server, Azure Synapse, ADF, AWS and related platforms
- Ability to interpret analytical results into meaningful business terms and translate business needs to programming and data processes. Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Must possess strong reality check reflex.
- Ability to manage multiple decision support applications and projects.
- Ability to pro-actively evaluate and address department needs.
- Ability to foresee impacts of possible strategy and implementation impacts and address proactively.
- Experience coaching and developing professional staff.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to business and technical audiences in both spoken and written formats.
