Lead, Marine Inventory Systems
Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Lead, Marine Inventory Systems to lead the development of fleet wide technical operations inventory strategies, coordination, optimization, and execution of inventory control and warehouse operations across our global network of marine technical facilities. This position is embedded within Marine Technical Operations (MTO) and serves as a technical role focused on supporting fleet-wide maintenance and operational readiness. While working in close collaboration with Supply Chain, this role is distinct in its technical scope and alignment with shipboard operations, dry docks, and maintenance planning. The Lead will ensure the timely availability of critical marine materials, spare parts and supplies, leveraging technical systems and data analytics to optimize inventory performance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse & Inventory Operations
- Lead the development and implementation of marine technical inventory strategies across the Royal Caribbean Group fleet of ships and warehouse facilities.
- Track and manage inventory levels of marine equipment, spare parts, consumables, and supplies across the fleet and warehouse. Ensure accurate stock records using AMOS and conduct regular physical stock checks and audits to prevent discrepancies. Align inventory levels with maintenance schedules and ship operations.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for receiving, storing, and distributing marine parts and equipment.
- Monitor KPIs such as inventory accuracy, order fulfillment rates, and warehouse throughput to drive performance improvements.
- Oversee organization and maintenance of marine technical warehouses and develop strategy to support ship operations globally.
Ensure technical alignment of inventory needs with operational schedules and
- maintenance plans.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with Supply Chain to build and maintain strategic partnerships with logistics providers and internal teams, ensuring efficient coordination and high-quality service delivery.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with procurement, technical teams, and finance to support operational goals.
Demand Forecasting and Planning
- Analyze historical data and operational needs to forecast inventory requirements.
- Plan stock replenishment strategies to avoid shortages or overstocking, considering lead times and ship schedules.
- Utilize predictive analytics and consumption trends to inform replenishment strategies and reduce obsolescence.
Cost Management
- Monitor inventory-related costs including storage, handling, and procurement expenses with focus on technical warehouses.
- Implement cost-saving measures such as optimizing reorder quantities and reducing obsolete stock.
- Prepare budget reports related to inventory expenditures.
Reporting and Data Analysis
- Generate reports on inventory levels, usage patterns, and stock turnover rates.
- Provide insights and present reports to senior management for decision-making and process improvements.
- Use data analytics to identify trends and optimize inventory processes.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, customs requirements, and internal audit standards.
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, root cause analysis, and process enhancements.
- Lead internal audits and participate in external inspections to uphold compliance standards and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in marine logistics, warehouse operations, or inventory management.
- Experience in supporting new build, dry docks or shipboard operations is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with port operations and international shipping logistics.
- Experience with ERP systems and integration of inventory platforms with procurement and finance modules is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in inventory and maintenance management systems (e.g., AMOS, CMMS).
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI or similar analytics platforms.
- Strong understanding of 3PL management, shipping documentation, and customs processes.
- Familiarity with digital twin technologies or IoT applications in inventory tracking is advantageous.
