Lead, Financial Reporting & Fixed Asset

Position Summary:

This individual will support the Silversea accounting team by maintaining fixed assets accounts and support the internal financial reporting month-end and consolidation processes. This position will report to the accounting Director based in Miami, FL (on-site). This position requires an individual to be detail oriented, have a strong technical accounting background, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment continually looking to institute process improvement.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly closing consolidation including closing of Fixed Asset sub ledger, preparation and/or detailed review of journal entries and prepare appropriate financial reports for internal reporting purposes;
  • In charge of inter-company transactions and reconciliation;
  • Oversee local offices audit, f/s review and work with business units finance teams to align accounting policies and procedures for key areas to ensure consistency and accuracy in reporting;
  • Maintain relationship across corporation’s department (Tax, legal, accounting and treasury) in order to ensure accuracy, appropriate recording of information and help the organization with future operations and initiatives which impact financial reporting function;
  • Maintain fixed assets, leases, intangibles and Dry-docks sub ledger and depreciation schedules, calculate depreciation for all depreciable asset with defined useful life;
  • Understand and apply accounting capitalization policy in the review of monthly CIP invoice activity and transfer fixed asset additions from work in progress accounts to Fixed Assets once related projects have been completed. Monitor projects and verify completion with CAR Manager while communicating with FP&A to ensure that budget/forecast amounts and in-service dates for capital projects are accurate and updated;
  • Ensure SOX compliance by adhering to internal control requirements, maintain updated documentation and providing recommendations as appropriate;
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations for assigned accounting areas and provide oversight and guidance for all account reconciliations;
  • Perform other job related functions as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • At least bachelor’s degree in accounting required,
  • CPA preferred.   
  • At least 4 years work experience, public accounting (Big 4) and/or cruise sector experience preferred

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong team player;
  • Advanced skills with Excel, Word and MS Outlook. Experience with Navision preferred; Cruise Line experience a plus.
