Lead, GPS Finance & Admin

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for leading various analyses as determined by Senior Management in support of operations decision making and the analysis of Guest Port Services/Port Operations and Taxes and Fees tool. Identification of opportunities to improve operating results through financial analysis and development of enhanced management information systems are key activities. Effective communication of this information to Senior Management and the respective operational groups is critical to the success of this position. This role is responsible for taking the lead role in providing operational support pertaining to day-to-day issues as well as any special projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Identify opportunities to improve operating performance through information gathering and analysis

· Conduct revenue analysis including volume/rate relationships

· Analyze operating results by decision-relevant variables

· Summarize variance investigations and assist in the development of action plans

· Develop operating ratios to monitor performance

· Formulate efficient research plans for analyzing large amounts of data:

· Design controlled experiments to quantify operating relationships

· Build regression models to predict effects of operational revenue/cost action plans

· Develop report writing skills in the corporate financial system(s)

· Lead the development and implementation of benchmark reports for operating groups

· Summarize trends and relationships through graphs, schedules, and memoranda

· Quantify performance improvement opportunities

· Responsible for "special project" initiatives as defined by senior management.

· Lead the analysis and interpret guidance from Operations and Corporate Planning to produce and facilitate capital budgeting and analysis

· Produce supporting exhibits for negotiations of Port User Agreements, providing recommendations on capital recovery and analyzing financing of capital improvements including yearly reconciliations and rate/volume adjustments to mitigate risk, meet targets and satisfy terms and conditions of Port User Agreements as they relate to Head Taxes to term.

· Lead the recovery of capital expenditures financed through Head Taxes serving as liaison between Operations and Accounting, submitting monthly guidance and reconcile at term.

· Gather, interpret, and quantify port commitment¿s exposure for disclosure on SEC 10Q and 10K reports.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Annual Head Tax plan/forecast/EOM of $350M

· Financial analyses of proposals from Port Authorities/partners for multi-year contracts

· Financial analyses for capital projects and budgets costing from $1M to $84M

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or directly related experience, is required. Master’s degree (M.B.A. or similar related discipline) is preferred.

· Five to eight years related financial, business analysis and/or Hospitality experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Strong PC skills are required.

· Experience with an organization, with global operations.

· Demonstrates the highest standards, both ethically and professionally.

· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

· Candidate must possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work effectively with all levels of operational personnel.

Physical Demands:

While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10 - 15 pounds. Visual requirement include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
