The Royal Caribbean Group’s Data and Analytics Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Lead, Data Engineering reporting to the Senior Manager, People Analytics.

 

The position is onsite and based in Miami, Florida.

 

The position is also not eligible for work authorization sponsorship.

 

Position Overview:

 

As a Data Engineer Lead, you will serve as a key individual contributor responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex data pipelines and architectures. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient data solutions that support business insights and decision-making.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Data Pipeline & Architecture Development
    • Design, build, and optimize scalable, high-performance data pipelines and data models.
    • Ensure data ingestion, transformation, and storage processes are efficient, secure, and compliant with governance standards.

 

  • Technical Expertise & Problem Solving
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in data pipelines, ensuring high data quality and availability.
    • Implement best practices for data development, testing, and deployment.

 

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to understand data needs and translate requirements into effective solutions.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to ensure data solutions align with organizational goals.

 

  • Data Governance & Quality Assurance
    • Implement and uphold data governance policies, including data security, privacy, and quality standards.
    • Continuously monitor data pipelines and processes to maintain high standards of data integrity.

 

  • Technology Evaluation & Innovation
    • Stay current with emerging data technologies and frameworks.
    • Recommend and incorporate new tools and techniques to improve data infrastructure and workflows.

 

  • Project Execution & Delivery
    • Manage your own workload to deliver projects on time and with high quality.
    • Contribute to planning, design, and implementation of complex data solutions.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or related roles.
  • Proficiency with big data tools and platforms (Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, etc.) and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, Scala, or Java.
  • Experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow or Prefect.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

 

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

 

  • Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Cloud Data Engineer, etc.).
  • Experience working with data lakes and data warehouses (Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices in data engineering (CI/CD, source control).
