Jr. Estimator

Position Summary:

The Estimator supports the development of cost estimates and budget inputs for Fleet Modernization and Newbuild projects. This role assists in gathering data, performing quantity take-offs, reviewing drawings, and maintaining basic estimating tools and documentation. The Estimator works under supervision and collaborates with cross-functional partners to provide accurate, timely, and organized estimating support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates for refurbishment and newbuild scopes.
  • Support data collection efforts to help build and maintain a cost database.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications to determine material quantities and basic labor requirements.
  • Gather supplier quotations and pricing information to support project budgets.
  • Help monitor design progress and flag cost-related impacts under guidance from senior team members.
  • Perform basic cost reviews, forecast checks, and data verification activities.
  • Maintain organized estimating files, logs, and documentation.
  • Work on multiple projects with direction, ensuring deadlines and priorities are met.
  • Travel occasionally if required (typically 0–10%).

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, construction, project management, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of relevant estimating experience.
  • Ship or construction experience is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD or estimating software helpful.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills in a multicultural environment.

  • Primarily office-based with occasional visits to ship or dock environments, which may require walking, climbing, or balancing.
