The Royal Caribbean Group has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Manager of Capital Finance for Global Marine Operations reporting to the Director of Marine Finance.
This position works on-site in Miami, Florida.
Position Summary:
This position will work directly with the Director of Marine Finance and their direct reports to financially manage Capital projects/initiatives geared at improving Marine performance and strategic goals in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
The Finance Manager of GMO Capital is responsible for driving the GMO Capital Process for the Brands, planning and reporting capital projects and related forecasts while providing the financial framework for numerous special projects including review and/or preparation of business cases for the company’s long-term Capital Projects.
Primary responsibilities include the development of annual capital budgets in collaboration with the Global Marine Operations (GMO) Finance team, managing capital submissions through the approval process and forecasting capital spend, depreciation and write-offs, and budgeting/forecasting project-related costs.
Note: This position may include unique requirements specific to the Brands, including finance & strategy reporting and other analyses. GMO Financial Management will provide specifics as to any unique requirements that are different or in addition to this core description.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages Capital Project Budgeting/Forecasting; annual consolidation and prioritization of Marine project requests, monthly forecasting of project status against the plan.
- Manages Capital Approval process; development of business case and financial projections with project managers and coordination of various levels of Committee review, influencing outcomes through interactions with Project Owners and Accounting.
- Quarterly Capital Forecasts: update of the timing of spend projections for all open projects, in-service forecasts for accurate planning of write-off calculations, and reporting to Capital Planning.
- Manages quarterly capital projects in-service process (SOX control).
- Drives Capital Strategy; provides recommendations on capital allocations and develops/maintains long-term Capital Project Plan.
- Manages and Facilitates Capital Project Management.
- Continuous updates with Project Owners on Project Execution (timing and spend).
- Manages and Provides Key Analytical Support on Business Cases for the company’s long-term strategic projects.
- Prepares presentations and communications for GMO leadership.
- Completes procedures as outlined in Company policies and procedures (SOX and other requirements).
- Hires, manages and supports the development of junior Capital team members.
- Develops business cases and financial packages for capital project requests.
- Consolidates and reports on Capital projects and forecasting monthly, and quarterly.
- Executes SOX and Company capital reporting requirements.
- Ad Hoc Analysis as required.
- Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- Four-year Bachelor's or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, or other highly analytical field from an accredited college or university (MBA preferred).
- Four to ten years of related financial and business analysis experience, project management, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced Project Management skills and the ablity to develop, assess and select a proper strategy, considering performance, budget, schedule, and scope constraints.
- Proficient understanding of capital expenditures vs operating expenses accounting rules.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ablity to work effectively with all levels of operational personnel.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong people management / team building skills.
- Proficient understanding and working knowledge of GAAP as it relates to depreciation and disposition of fixed assets.
- Strong PC skills including advanced Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project required.
- Advanced analytical skills should include long-term financial modeling and capital project management.
- Understanding of cruise line operations in hotel and technical aspects, as well as global deployment a plus.
Work Environment:
Travel less than 15% may be expected with some overseas or shipboard travel as needed. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes working inside/outside the office, traveling to other offices, possibly traveling domestically and internationally, and working in shipboard functions. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations.
