Director, Technology Finance, Growth & Digital

Position Summary:  

Own all financial aspects of RCL's digital transformation, e-commerce, loyalty program, and Data/AI investment portfolios. Support Digital and Growth executive management and business objectives through superior financial management and controllership. In partnership with operational leaders, the Director will lead the financial business case and scope development process for the technology portfolio investments and influence strategic capital investment decisions.  Prepare the respective Forecasts and Analysis for current financial periods and Operating & Capital Plan for future years. Work closely with Executive level leadership to oversee accurate and timely forecasting, reporting, and analysis of a dynamic transformational program.  

The position is expected to display considerable initiative, independent judgment, and leadership skills in performing financial activities such as planning and forecasting, analysis, project assessments, preliminary cost estimates, determination of capital vs. expense activities and governance. Manage effectively to reach targeted results. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Own the monitoring of the financial health of large capital programs and provide frequent updates and reporting to C-suite level executives. Such capital programs include our Ecommerce, Data/AI, Loyalty and Digital investment programs, and may include others in the future. 

  • Manages Digital, e-commerce, loyalty, and data/AI Finance staff. 

  • Create the financial business case and scope development process for the technology portfolio investments 

  • Advises management on financial initiatives and cost optimization opportunities, aligned with corporate and departmental strategy.  

  • Effectively build relationships with operational and financial leaders with the ability to influence. 

  • Develop effective stories, present findings, and lead discussions that lead to a common understanding with partners and executives. 

  • Performs/oversees data analysis, providing proactive insights to Operational and Finance Leadership. 

  • Performs/oversees ad hoc analysis as needed, summarizing results in an executive level format. 

  • Responsible for overseeing the results, timelines, deliverables, and budget of high-profile programs. 

  • Develops the analysis and communication of departmental annual budget and monthly forecasts.  

  • Creates the analysis and communication of capital plans, including review of business projects that impact operational costs, including company benefit.  

  • Oversees monthly reporting to various RCL accounting functions, including analysis of results vs. plan and forecast. 

  • Manages the team responsible for the department's project/resource management system. 

  • Train and assist all Digital and Growth (e-commerce, Data/AI, and Loyalty) operational leaders in proper and effective financial budgeting and estimating techniques. 

  • Ensures Digital and Growth (e-commerce, Data/AI, and Loyalty) contract and vendor administration adheres to budgets and internal controls. 

  • Manage departmental administrative duties such as merit and bonus administration, employee incentive program administration, etc. 

 

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:  

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or business from a 4-year university 

  • Master's degree in finance, MBA and/or CFA is a plus 

  • 10+ years financial management experience at a large corporation 

  • Financial management of agile software development projects is a plus 

  • Experience working in a technology focused finance role 

  • Proven experience in leading or directing the work of department staff or project teams 

  • Capable of making independent decisions

  • Aptitude for translating complex, technical subjects into clear, business-oriented communications

  • Strong knowledge and experience utilizing web-enabled project management tools (Clarity) 

  • Strong knowledge and experience in a variety of the field’s concepts and practices
