Position Summary:
The Director, Business Excellence is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving and managing change initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, improving partner experiences, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader of people, with demonstrated ability to collaborate and engage effectively with individuals across all levels of the organization. This role requires exceptional problem solving, ability to prioritize the needs of multiple teams in the department and execute against them in a way that aligns with our strategic vision and operating plan. A leader and strategic driver of change across Newbuild and Innovation, they will oversee the day-to-day operations of Newbuild and Innovation’s Change Management capability, staffing and advising departmental transformation initiatives, and fostering the adoption of leading change practices. A problem solver, results-oriented and seasoned expert, the candidate must be an energetic, pragmatic champion of change who listens for organization needs and issues, balances multiple enterprise priorities, and builds cross-functional alignment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of 8+ professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide coaching and feedback to team members
- Oversee the identification, analysis, and implementation of process improvement initiatives across the organization.
- Utilize methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to streamline operations, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses of existing processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Leverage data analytics and metrics to inform decision-making and prioritize improvement efforts.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices and fostering an environment that encourages innovation and experimentation.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of improvement initiatives and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Evaluate, select, and implement tools and technologies that enhance process efficiency and effectiveness within the department
- Ensure the department is trained and proficient in using relevant software and tools to support their work.
- Oversee the Development and implementation of training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the department and the broader organization in process improvement methodologies and tools and project management processes
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning opportunities within the team and across departments.
- Design and deploy effective change management strategies to ensure successful adoption of process improvements and new technologies.
- Engage stakeholders at all levels to communicate changes, address concerns, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Oversee the coordination and execution of internal and external audits to assess compliance with quality standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Support with Development of action plans to address audit findings and drive accountability for implementation.
- Establish and maintain a robust quality management framework
- Monitor and report on quality metrics, making recommendations for improvement as needed and in accordance with ISO standards
- Support with Development of a risk management framework to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with business processes and operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a proactive approach to risk management.
- Collaborate with NewBuild leadership to develop and implement strategies that support the successful launch and execution of new projects and initiatives.
- Provide guidance on best practices for process excellence in new builds, and revitalization projects ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and alignment on process improvement initiatives.
- Present findings, recommendations, and progress updates to senior leadership and other key stakeholders.
- Facilitate the executive alignment around the vision, rationale, impacts, support model, and long-term plan.
- Prepare and present regular reports on the status of process improvement initiatives, quality management efforts, and team performance to executive leadership.
- Ensure thorough documentation of processes, standards, and improvement initiatives for knowledge retention and compliance purposes.
Qualifications:
- 10-15 years of complex program management experience and or process management
- Experience designing and managing of end-to-end complex global enterprise transformation programs or initiatives with quantifiable and sustained results; or
- Experience managing and delivering programs for an internal change management capability that produced quality employee experiences and demonstrable results.
- Highly collaborative adviser, program manager, and delivery professional with:
- Exceptional listening, communication (written + oral), facilitation, presentation skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the enterprise and quickly build relationships.
- Ease in navigating ambiguity and disruption to drive innovation and insights.
- Hospitality / travel and tourism industry experience MBA or related graduate degree preferred.
Skills:
- Strong leadership skills and experience in leading and working with a team of professionals.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills a must. Clear and precise communication at all levels of the organization essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strength in communicating in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Proven success in establishing and navigating executive relationships across operational units and geographies.
- Demonstrated awareness and understanding of current digital, experiential, analytics, and agile competencies.
- Comfortable setting aggressive timelines and objectives to achieve goals and close issues, while effectively managing communications to all impacted groups
- Solid judgment and counsel that balances a variety of factors (e.g., company values, project objectives, cost, risk, short-term vs. long-term impact) and follows a pragmatic rationale.
- Successful team management and development, including constructive feedback delivery and collaborative work environment creation.
- Detail-oriented management with proven ability to multi-task and manage time / resources against competing priorities.
