Royal Caribbean Group’s Global Marine Operations Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Director, Global Marine Operations Program Management Office reporting to the Senior Director, Decarbonization Strategy.

 

This position will work onsite in Miami, Florida.

Position Summary:

 

TheDirector of Global Marine PMOis a pivotal leadership role entrusted with steering the capital financial process within Royal Caribbean Group's Global Marine Operations (GMO). This executive oversees the comprehensive management of the Program Management Department, which encompasses Project Management, Risk Management, Marine Administration Business Analytics and Continuous Improvement, and Digitalization teams. The role is instrumental in shaping and executing strategic initiatives that optimize fleet performance, leveraging advanced financial planning, capital investment oversight, and resource allocation to drive value and operational excellence across the global fleet. 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Strategic Leadership in Fleet Optimization: 
    Develop and implement long-term financial strategies that align with corporate objectives for fleet modernization, capital expenditures, and lifecycle management. Oversee the planning, budgeting, and financial analysis of all operational and capital projects, ensuring alignment with the company's financial goals and risk appetite. 

 

  • Capital Budgeting & Investment Oversight: 
    Manage annual capital expenditure budgets exceeding $100 million, ensuring optimal allocation of resources toward dry-docks, vessel upgrades, and newbuild projects. Lead critical financial evaluations, including cost-benefit analyses, economic feasibility studies, and lifecycle cost modeling, to support strategic decision-making and maximize return on investment. 

 

  • Financial Planning & Lifecycle Management: 
    Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to develop robust lifecycle strategies for vessel assets, integrating financial forecasts, depreciation schedules, and certification costs. Ensure that asset management practices optimize vessel availability, compliance, and residual value, while minimizing total cost of ownership. 

 

  • Cost Control & Efficiency Enhancement: 
    Drive initiatives to reduce waste, streamline maintenance practices, and improve operational efficiencies through data-driven insights and digitalization. Identify opportunities to leverage technology and innovative solutions that enhance safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness across the fleet. 

 

  • Risk Management & Compliance: 
    Oversee the financial aspects of the regulatory lifecycle for vessels, including dry-dock planning, certification renewals, and compliance costs. Work closely with classification societies, flag states, and regulatory bodies to ensure cost-effective adherence to international standards, minimizing financial exposure and operational risks. 

 

  • Financial Oversight of Projects & Portfolio Management: 
    Supervise the Program Management Office responsible for a portfolio exceeding $100 million annually, ensuring projects are delivered within budget, on schedule, and aligned with strategic priorities. Standardize project reporting, financial tracking, and performance metrics to enable transparent governance and decision-making.

 

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting: 
    Present comprehensive financial analyses, capital forecasts, and performance reports to executive leadership, steering committees, and external partners. Act as a strategic advisor on financial implications of fleet initiatives, capital investments, and operational improvements. 

 

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with a concentration in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Project Management or related field or related field with demonstrated project management experience.  

 

  • Experience: 10-15 years with minimum 5 years of experience leading a medium-sized team.  

 

  • Proven expertise in managing large-scale capital budgets, financial modeling, and lifecycle cost analysis within maritime, hospitality, or similar capital-intensive industries. 

 

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles related to capital expenditures, depreciation, and expense management. 

 

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic financial planning, risk mitigation, and resource allocation at an executive level. 

 

  • PMP certification is preferred, with a deep familiarity with project financials, portfolio management, and PMI standards. 

 

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
