The Royal Caribbean Group’s Legal Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Director of Global Ethics & Compliance reporting to the AVP, Assistant Chief Compliance Officer.

 

The position is onsite and based in Miami, Florida.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Director of Global Ethics & Compliance is a strategic leader who will support the Company's Global Compliance and Ethics Program and serve as a subject matter expert for business leaders on compliance and ethics issues.  This position plays an important role in operational ethics and regulatory adherence across all geographies in which the company operates.  This position will have considerable interaction with all management levels of the Company.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Lead and manage internal investigations into allegations of misconduct, fraud, harassment, safety violations, environmental issues, and other compliance-related concerns. 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including HR, AAS, Legal, Security, and operational departments, to evaluate and respond to suspected compliance violations, and ensure consistent enforcement, disclosure, and remedial action protocols.
  • Provide investigation findings and recommendations to senior leadership and support disciplinary or corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Maintain a case management system to track and report on the status, outcomes, and trends of investigations. 
  • Develop and implement data-driven compliance monitoring tools and dashboards; analyze trends in complaints, incidents, audit findings, and other risk indicators to proactively detect emerging compliance issues; leverage data analytics to inform resource allocation, training priorities, and compliance initiatives.
  • Develop, maintain, and regularly assess policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, which includes staying current on developments, interpreting laws, and regulations in the context of the company’s activities, and ensuring that business leaders stay informed of necessary information.
  • Ensure policies are effectively communicated, understood, and accessible across the fleet and corporate offices.
  • Provide strategic direction and advice on ethical, legal, and regulatory compliance matters across the company in multiple areas, including, e.g., anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, competition, economic and trade sanctions, conflicts of interest, human rights, cyber, AI, and data privacy/protection.
  • Provide support, as needed, in regulatory compliance training; anti-bribery, sanctions, privacy and other regulatory risk assessments, and audits.
  • Help in supervising a team of compliance professionals and analysts.
  • This individual will report to an associate vice president but operate with significant autonomy and have considerable direct interaction with all levels of management.  This individual will be in Miami, Florida.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD, CPA, or Master’s in Business, Law, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate compliance, investigations, risk management, or internal audit.
  • Demonstrated experience leading internal investigations, with strong knowledge of investigative protocols and legal considerations.
  • Experience with ethics hotlines, whistleblower protections, and compliance case management systems.
  • Experience with global/international operations/organization.
  • Strong process-orientation: proven effectiveness in identifying, developing, and implementing scalable/sustainable process and other continuous improvements to achieve organizational efficiencies and increase effectiveness
  • Proven ability to apply data analytics in a compliance or risk context (e.g., using Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms).
  • Strong knowledge of international compliance frameworks (e.g., FCPA, UK Bribery Act, IMO regulations, GDPR).
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn business requirements quickly, analyze regulatory, compliance and commercial risks, and propose creative, business-oriented solutions.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively with internal colleagues and outside legal advisors.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills and demonstrated maturity and good judgment.
  • Ability to manage numerous challenging work assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
