Director, Fleet Financial Performance

The Royal Caribbean Group’s Global Marine Operations has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Director, Fleet Financial Performance reporting to the AVP, Global Marine Operations Finance.

 

This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida.

 

Position Summary:

 

In this role, you will oversee and manage over 60 assets worth multi-billion-dollar vessels. You will be responsible for managing annual budgets across department operations, improving processes, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment. You will develop best practices in asset management and collaboratively work with all internal centers of expertise to ensure profitability maximization for our fleet. The responsibilities include coordinating and communicating financial plans and results with all levels of shoreside and shipboard management and other key constituencies including Corporate Planning and Accounting. Additional responsibilities include adding value to the business and identifying efficiencies. You must be able to ensure compliance with all company policies and communicate and monitor compliance of others as appropriate. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee the annual operating and plan process including development of the planning schedules, spreadsheet tools, comparative data, and communication of corporate objectives for Global Marine Operations.  
  • Creates strategy for Asset and Fleet equipment and works collaboratively with Operations to develop annual Capex and Budget spending across the brands. 
  • Provides daily guidance, monitoring and reporting of all budgeting and fleet maintenance spending. 
  • Lead the team in the management of P&L 
  • Develop and present financial presentations for various audiences (shoreside and shipboard at all levels). 
  • Lead the team to negotiate or amend contracts to improve asset performance and mitigate risks. 
  • Lead the team in the technical aspects of each asset and coordinate the relationship with our operations team (site managers and technicians on site) 
  • Ensure that project budgets are developed with prudent assumptions for revenues, expenses, and capital expenditures. 
  • Lead initiatives to improve operational and financial performance and protect long-term value. 
  • Oversee the monthly close process and ensure that financial results are correct, and compliant with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and overall corporate policies and procedures, including Sarbanes Oxley.  
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive asset management system, including tracking of assets, maintenance records, and scheduling preventive maintenance. Drives best-in-class accountability and reporting around key metrics: asset assignment accuracy %, utilization %, and inspection completion %. 
  • Communicates with Sr Leaders on the status of assets and fleet. 
  • Ensure preventative maintenance program is implemented and followed across the enterprise to drive optimum cost-effective fleet/asset spend. 
  • Manage and develop a team of finance professionals in support of achieving all goals. Motivate and engage direct reports by providing day-to-day direction, mentorship, and coaching.  
  • Manages fleet/asset maintenance vendors to obtain optimum service and cost-effectiveness.  
  • Work closely with other departments, including operations, safety, and purchasing, to ensure that the asset/fleet is maintained to the highest standards. 

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Environmental, Business Administration, Economics, or related discipline
  • A minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-based environment 
  • Detail-oriented individual who will work proactively to pursue value creation 
  • Highly capable of working constructively and maintaining good relationships with internal and external parties 
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and develop a team of finance and operations maintenance personnel. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experienced team leader with a focus on P&L management, asset management, renewables preferred
