Royal Caribbean Group’s Legal Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Director, Commercial Litigation reporting to the AVP, Associate Counsel.
This position will work onsite in Miami, Florida.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Litigation to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of eight (8) years of litigation experience, and a combination of law firm and in-house practice, with a strong background in trial, arbitration, and case management strategy. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage complex litigation matters in various US and international jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of a broad worldwide portfolio of consumer and commercial litigation, including trial preparation, arbitration, and case management.
- Develop and implement litigation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for the company.
- Collaborate with internal business and legal stakeholders as well as external counsel to ensure effective case management and representation.
- Provide legal advice and support to senior management on litigation matters.
- Oversee the preparation and review of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Monitor and analyze changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company's litigation strategy.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external legal counsel and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic performance;
- Admission to the Florida bar and in good standing or qualified to be admitted as Authorized House Counsel in Florida;
- Minimum of eight (8) years of complex commercial litigation experience with a mid-size or large leading law firm, with a proven track record of successful case management;
- First chair trial experience in Florida state court or federal court;
- Strong knowledge of trial, arbitration, and case management strategies;
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience litigating matters arising from or related to the maritime or travel industry
- Experience in cross-border disputes.
Developing Data Sources and KPIs: The ideal candidate will also have experience in developing data sources and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to litigation in an in-house setting. This includes identifying and analyzing relevant data to track litigation trends, measure the effectiveness of litigation strategies, and provide actionable insights to senior management. The candidate should be proficient in using data analytics tools and have a strong understanding of how to leverage data to drive decision-making and improve litigation outcomes.
