Royal Caribbean Group’s Procurement has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Buyer III reporting to the Sr Mgr, Procurement.

 

This role will work onsite in Miami, Florida.

 

Position Summary

Sources, negotiates, and procures goods/services for various commodity requests including Lubricant oils, chemicals and fuel products.  Receives requests from content owners/shipboard or Shoreside customers and validates specifications/requirements. Seeks and offers alternatives for cost savings and timely delivery of goods/services. Manages supplier pool and works on special projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Support the daily Fuel sourcing strategy for various ships and different regions across all RCG brands.
  • Monitor daily operations of 100+ deliveries per week yielding $1Billion+ in direct annual spend to ensure fulfillment strategy assigned to each vessel is optimized by utilizing competitive supplier contracts. Provides recommendations and analysis of proposed cost savings solutions for customer and management selection.  
  • Initiates the delivery process for 2,000-3,000 orders per year by submitting nominations basis recommendations on price, availability, transportation and delivery schedule. The Buyer III will have the authority to bind the company to a contract or deal.
  • Liaises with shipboard and/or Shoreside personnel, suppliers and logistics to ensure proper ordering and timely delivery of goods and services to operational vessels or projects without interruption.
  • Performs continuous oversight of the order process, communications with suppliers and the vessels to ensure 99.9% delivery and specification accuracy given the extraordinary importance of timely fuel supply for our ability to deliver the cruise to the guests.
  • Tactical bunker procurement contributor for all RCG brands (+70 ships worldwide: RCI, CEL, SSC, TUI, HLC) requiring email and phone monitoring extensively after-hours coverage).
  • Assist with recording and tracking compliant supplier and vessel KPIs that will maintain or ensure operational excellence. Responsible for researching and resolving issues including delivery failures, delivery discrepancies and invoices in disputes.
  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure consistent service, high quality and low costs of goods/services, and addresses deviations with management.
  • Support the Global Fuel Procurement reconciliation and transaction strategy including analyzing, researching, and correcting, pricing, quantity, and delivery discrepancies.
  • Follow up with suppliers and shipboard officers regarding invoices so that unbilled purchase orders are properly processed following specific vendor contract terms and conditions.
  • Progressively develop bunker industry knowledge to allow RCG to procure in various locations while assessing risk/reward of each bunker opportunity.
  • May travel to visit ships, suppliers or project site for loadings, audits, etc.
  • Responsible for meeting with customers regularly to provide status updates on open orders.
  • Duties assigned by their supervisor or management.

Financial responsibilities:

$25,000 expenditure limit per order

Qualifications Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. 
  • 3-5 yrs. of procurement experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products. 
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • JDE, ORACLE, Tungsten, deployment schedule experience is preferred.
