Sound, Light, Video & Rigging Associate

The SLVR (Sound Light Video & Rigging) Associate is responsible for overseeing all the technical requirements for Light, Sound, and Video with Newbuilding architects and consultants regarding Entertainment, Technology, and Audio-Visual Technology.



  • In collaboration with the Manager, this person will advise Entertainment, Cruise Programs, Product Development and IT departments and related consultants, across all brands, to define entertainment systems requirements and specifications for projects and oversee them from pre-project phase until operational successful handover.
  • Collaborate with Newbuild architectural design responsible persons such that technical requirements for architectural design are well defined before submissions in order to ensure that all needed information is included in work scopes and that there is no overlap between scope of works.
  • Liaise with Marine Department, to include Hotel Operations (Entertainment) needs from PA/GA to interface with LES.
  • Works closely with art consultant regarding technical details for Audio Visual, Lighting and specialized systems.
  • Assist Manager with TV coordination between New Building Designers, Architects and Consultants for all displays. Participates in new technology development and special projects.
  • In collaboration with the Manager, plans and executes projects, while cross coordinating and sharing best practices effectively between consultants, brand operations, system suppliers and builders.
  • Works closely with shipyards on technical requirements for needed interfaces (e.g. architectural lighting, PA system, etc.) interfaces to LES.
  • Scouts and standardizes market research methods for novel ideas and insights. Promotes open innovation.
  • Identifies new SLVR market spaces by analyzing trends and market disruptions and searching for emerging new market opportunities. Attends trade exhibitions.
  • Point of contact for outside SLVR consultants, ensuring that there are well-defined processes, and deliverables which are on time and within costs.
  • Upholds SQM practices through all phases of work.



  • Minimum 5 years professional theater experience, shipboard/shore side and 5 years large scale projects developing designs, specifications, drawings, and the ability to implement them into an architectural design. Degree in electrical engineering or audio engineering with emphasis on low voltage. Knowledge of ISO 9001 and requirements for vessel operations using ISO 14001. 
  • Working knowledge of personal computers within a Windows environment. Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint, required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.  Independent decision-making skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills within a multicultural environment, amongst employees and management.  Detail oriented.
  • Problem solving skills.  Analytical skills.  Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Knowledge of current entertainment, recreation and leisure trends within the cruising and land-based entertainment and vacation experiences.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Strong communication skills, responsive public relations.  Extensive travel required. Must be strong communicator.  Exhibits advanced capabilities in written, oral, and graphic media. Represents department and self in a competent professional manner.
