Royal Caribbean Group’s Shipboard Talent Acquisition Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Analyst, Background Check reporting to the Senior Manager, TA Operations.
This is an in-person role in Miami, Florida.
Position Summary:
The Background Check Analyst plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the hiring process by ensuring that all background screening processes are conducted efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. As the Background Check Analyst you will be responsible for managing the entire pre-employment background check process for all shipboard new hires, rehires, and 3rd party contractors.
This role involves coordinating with internal teams, external vendors, and candidates to facilitate the pre-employment screening process including reviewing criminal records, credit histories, and other personal information related to background screening.
Essential Job Duties
- Background Check Management:
- Perform and oversee detailed background checks including criminal history, employment verification, education verification, and other relevant screenings.
- Ensure accuracy and thoroughness in all checks.
- Determines suitability of the individuals based on employment requirements.
- Adjudicate background screening reports to established standards following a set process and controls to mitigate risk while using sound judgement and escalating as appropriate through a predefined escalation matrix.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze and interpret background check results to identify any discrepancies or red flags. Summarize findings in clear, concise reports for leadership.
- Compliance: Ensure all background checks comply with company policies, federal and state laws, and industry regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of background screening laws and best practices, and implement improvements as needed. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for background checks to ensure compliance with local and national laws
- Documentation: Accurately document all background check activities and maintain organized records in various HR systems. Ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
- Communication: Liaise with candidates, hiring managers, and external vendors to obtain necessary information and provide updates on the status of background checks. Resolve any issues that arise during the screening process.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the background check process. Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance the user experience throughout the screening process, and proactively seek and suggest solutions to leadership.
- Confidentiality: Handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and integrity.
- Attention to detail - The ability to meticulously review information and identify discrepancies in candidates’ backgrounds.
- Analytical Skills Proficiency in analyzing background check results and making informed decisions based on the findings.
- Knowledge of Compliance Regulations Familiarity with laws and regulations surrounding background checks, including data protection and privacy laws.
- Problem-Solving Abilities A proactive approach to resolving discrepancies or issues that may arise during the verification process.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of candidates/employees via phone and e-mail
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in conducting background checks or a related Compliance, Audit, or HR role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
- Experience working with international background checks.
- Familiarity with Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) compliance.
