Recruiter (Temporary, Due to maternity leave)

Position Summary:

 

The Recruiter focuses on effectively executing the interviewing/hiring process for shipboard positions.  The Recruiter is responsible for requisition and candidate management ensuring the effectiveness of the recruiting process, executing sourcing plans, and overall sourcing tactics and providing insight to leadership regarding the talent market as well as seeking out opportunities for continuous process improvement. In collaboration with operational colleagues, the Recruiter effectively uses resources to attract, identify, screen, and hire the best talent globally in the most efficient manner. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for recruiting all positions within the assigned business units outlined which may include special projects, high volume and emerging talent.
  • Works with hiring managers and HRBPs to review and understand the forecasted needs for talent acquisition, as well as responding to just-in-time requests.
  • Executes sourcing strategies and methods to develop proactively talent pools that align with both the short and long-term needs of the business
  • Manages own workflow and complies with recruitment SOPs maintaining documentation as per company policies and processes.
  • Compiles metrics and prepares various reports that measure the effectiveness of recruiting and staffing processes, as well as sourcing strategies
  • Stay current with current market trends and adjust recruiting approach accordingly
  • Maintains relationships with a network of recruiting agencies and related sources that efficiently shipboard roles in accordance with company policy and procedure
  • Establishes recruiting requirements by studying organization plans and objectives; meeting with managers to discuss needs for Shipboard roles
  • Manages various stakeholders in discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with managers; based on a consistent set of qualifications as agreed at the start of the hiring process
  • Improves organization attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices; monitoring job offers and compensation practices; emphasizing benefits and perks
  • Determines applicant requirements by studying job description and job qualifications
  • Previews, evaluates and selects appropriate talent directly and through various sources to meet the requirements of the departments and/or vessels' needs
  • Selects appropriate applicants to meet specific functional hiring and scheduling requirements
  • Interviews candidates to determine the individual's adaptability to the corporate/shipboard environment; this is done via webcam, when possible, to minimize costs
  • Conducts regular review of interview questionnaires and revises it as appropriate to suit market/s handled
  • Responsible for evaluating candidates using competency-based interviewing techniques and providing recommendations of best fit candidates to hiring managers.  May also make hiring decisions for some entry level roles.
  • Ensures job description is shared to each candidate
  • Arranges interviews by coordinating schedules; arranges travel, lodging, and meals; escorting applicant to interviews; arranging community tours (if applicable)
  • Negotiates terms and conditions regarding contract lengths salary, etc.
  • Makes job offers to approved candidates in accordance with company policy
  • Travels to various international or domestic locations as needed
  • Prepares various reports as required including, but not limited to, status reports, talent search reviews, and list of talent pools & gap pools for shipboard and talent pools
  • Avoids legal challenges in various markets handled by understanding current legislation; enforcing regulations with managers; recommending new procedures; conducting training

 


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-4 years relevant recruitment experience; experience recruiting for Shared Services or Hospitality Industry required.  Experience in volume/ bulk recruiting a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources and/ or business administration from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrated capability to recruit positions in various levels of the organization (entry to senior level)
  • Proven ability to source, interview and screen candidates (management, specialty and high-volume roles)
  • Familiarity and knowledge in utilizing HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Candidate Management Systems (CMS)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply judgment to ambiguous or out-of-policy situations; attention to detail and the ability to deal appropriately with confidential information
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to communicate tactfully, verbally and in writing. Experience and ability to discuss with and influence leadership teams, manage relationships, as well as to collaborate with and influence various clients, stakeholders, department heads and related teams
  • Working knowledge of accepted human resources recruitment practices
    • Ability to acquire knowledge of recruitment processes in various countries
  • Ability to negotiate terms and conditions with candidates within established guidelines
  • Social Media savvy – has understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) and will work along with the Recruitment Marketing team to boost digital posts with specific keywords to push for better visibility
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, set goals, and develop systems for achieving set goals
  • Able to work well both in a team environment as well as using own initiative. Able to work well under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Can adapt successfully to changing situations & environments. Keeping calm in the face of difficulties
  • Active listening skills - observing what verbal and non-verbal messages are being sent, and then providing appropriate feedback
  • Tech Savvy - knowing how to utilize software programs, traverse computer systems, and handle typical tech issues
  • Ability to productively work under tight time constraints and stressful situations
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, co-workers, and shipboard employees
  • Proven ability of building and maintaining business relationships within and outside the organization
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/requisitions simultaneously; project management and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure; work in a targets and timeline driven environment
  • Cruise industry experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills: List specific knowledge and skills necessary to perform this job related to the Essential Duties and Responsibilities identified above. 

 

  • Knowledge of accepted human resource practices and all applicable laws governing employment and fair treatment of employees
  • Knowledge of general shipboard functions on a cruise ship, and the general concept of the shipboard organization preferred.
  • Knowledge of world geography, time differences and demographic
  • Demonstrates consistent dedication to candidates, business leaders, hiring managers, recruiting team members and the broader team
  • Proficiency of computers and Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Strong Excel skills required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Solid experience with Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Prior work with PeopleSoft or other HRIS Enterprise Resource Planning System preferred
