Royal Caribbean Group’s Community Engagement team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Head of Community Engagement Mexico reporting to the AVP Community engagement.
Position Summary
The Head of Community Engagement Mexico is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategic, operational, and social impact management of community engagement across Quintana Roo and other Mexico priority locations. This role is pivotal in shaping the company’s regional programs tied to Royal Caribbean Group’s values and SEA the Future commitment, fostering meaningful relationships with local communities and institutions. The Head will spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive engagement strategy, in partnership with the on-the-ground business integration and operations teams, to promote sustainable tourism, education, cultural enrichment, and economic empowerment.
As the primary liaison between Royal Caribbean Group and local stakeholders, the Head will serve as the face of the company in Mexico communities and drive high-impact initiatives that enhance well-being and community resilience, delivering measurable impact and reinforcing the company’s commitment to the Mexican communities where we sail and call home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership

Design and execute regionally tailored community engagement strategy across key Mexico destinations, aligned with RCG’s global SEA the Future pillars.

Serve as the senior point of contact for all community-related initiatives in Mexico, providing on-the-ground insights and coordination across internal departments and external stakeholders.

Collaborate with Miami-based leadership and cross-functional teams (e.g., Product Development, Private Destination Operations, Communications, Public Relations, etc.) to ensure strategic alignment and effective program execution.

Serve as a strategic advisor to internal teams, ensuring community engagement is embedded in business integration, operations, and future expansion efforts across Mexico.

Strategic Project Management by overseeing projects and initiatives from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and community needs.
Community Programming:
-
Oversee and lead the implementation of community investment plans, including grantmaking, sponsorships, and volunteer activities.

Develop the development, execution, and planning of local community giving, including budgeting, grant distribution, and impact tracking.

Drive the creation and operationalization of a community fund, including governance, funding strategy, and programmatic focus.

Secure necessary government approvals and maintain compliance for all community initiatives.

Strategize shipboard volunteer efforts with shoreside team that support the local community, ensuring seamless integration and measurable impact.

Drive strategic planning and collaborate with operational teams to promote educational programming/training at RCG University and University of Quintana Roo for residents.

Direct and lead the relocation of Mahahual Community Center from current location to new location by Q1 2026.

Lead strategy for the Mahahual Community Center, in conjunction with the Community Center Director. Drive leadership of operations team of community center.
Stakeholder Engagement:

Act as the RCG senior representative in Mexico, cultivating high-trust relationships with government entities, NGOs, academic institutions, and community leaders.

Represent the company in public forums, stakeholder meetings, and community events, coordinating joint actions to elevate community priorities and foster collaborative solutions.

Identify strategic partnership opportunities and manage stakeholder engagement, provide feedback, corrective action plans, and support community investment initiatives.

Essential Stakeholder Engagement Skills:

Leadership: Guiding and motivating teams to achieve project goals.

Organizational: Managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively and efficiently.

Communication: Clearly conveying information and ideas to various audiences in Spanish and English.

Measuring Engagement: Measuring the level of interaction between the Royal Caribbean Group and PTM with community members. Engagement rate, growth in community size, and sentiment analysis. These metrics help assess the effectiveness of community relations initiatives, the manager’s ability to grow and engage the community, and the overall sentiment towards the organization within the community.
Measurement & Reporting:

Track and report on key performance indicators related to community impact, stakeholder engagement metrics, satisfaction and program reach, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Responsible for Mexico portfolio data analytics for contribution to the annual Community Impact Report and other internal/external communications.

Ensure data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across all initiatives.
Team Collaboration:
-
Supervise 2 Community Engagement staff based in Mahahual, Mexico.

Strategize and align with the AVP of Community Engagement.
-
Partner with the Director of Business Integration and Manager of Communications to ensure cohesive messaging and execution.

Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team by connecting community members with employment pathways.

Work closely with port agents and Mahahual site teams to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
Qualifications:
-
Fluency in Spanish and English is required, both written and verbal.
-
Bachelor's degree required in Corporate Responsibility, Public Affairs, Public Administration, Communications or related field with community impact experience. Master's degree preferred in Public Administration, International Development, Social Impact, or related field.

Minimum 8 years of experience required in progressive leadership across community relations, stakeholder engagement, public affairs and/or regional development.

Strong Cross-cultural Communication and Cultural Competence with proven understanding of social dynamics in Quintana Roo, Mexico, particularly in Mahahual, Costa Maya. Proven relationship and networking in the region.

Strategic thinker, operationally focused, proactive leader, and expert in capacity building and grassroots strategy development.

Proven ability to build trust with community engagement and outreach with diverse stakeholders and lead cross-sector collaborations.

Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution: Dealing with challenges that arise from stakeholder conflicts, differences, and unexpected situations.

Adaptive Thinking and Resilience: Operating in dynamic environments, responding to changing circumstances, and navigating uncertainty.

Intermediate proficiency at minimum in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint. Experience with grant making software such as Blackbaud a plus.

Experience in tourism, sustainability, or nonprofit sectors is a plus.

Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

Mandatory travel required between key regions in Mexico and Miami, Florida.
