LOCATION

This role is based in Brussels, Belgium. Please note that this is not a remote position.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Issues & Coalitions - Europe is a pivotal role that supports the development and implementation of RCG’s public affairs strategies across Europe. As an essential part of RCG’s Corporate Affairs team, this position is responsible for assisting in the protection and enhancement of the company’s reputation within the complex and evolving regulatory and political landscape of Europe. This position will report directly to the AVP of Global Public Affairs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Support the execution of public affairs strategy at the European regional/federal/national levels using a campaign-style approach, including research, polling, message development, digital targeting, and content creation.

- Assist in managing grassroots and grass tops issue advocacy campaigns to enhance corporate reputation and advance the public policy agenda.

- Help build coalitions and manage relationships with third-party groups, including trade and business associations, think-tanks, and academics.

- Coordinate with regional public affairs firms to ensure execution of strategy.

- Work cross-functionally with Government Relations, Community Engagement, Destination Development, ESG, and Communications teams.

- Monitor evolving political and regulatory landscapes in Europe to mitigate risk and inform public affairs strategy.

- Maintain strong external relationships across prioritized regions while working closely with internal stakeholders.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in economics, political science, international relations, communications, or a related field is strongly preferred.

- Minimum 10 years of experience in Public Affairs, Public Policy, Campaign Management, or a related field.

- Proven track record of success in a large and complex organization.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills [written and verbal]; exceptional interpersonal skills to influence internal and external relationship building and must exude credibility as a corporate representative.

- Outstanding English language proficiency. Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, Italian, or French strongly preferred.

- Availability to travel and flexibility to support unexpected business events outside of regular business hours including holidays and weekends.

- General understanding of how governmental organizations operate within Europe.

- Working knowledge of European current events and political dynamics.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

- Articulate, with strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to build internal relationships with, and influence the decision-making of, senior-level corporate executives.

- Experienced in understanding business principles and the complexities of a large corporation.

- Basic graphic design skills or experience working with a graphic designer to create and convey stories and information visually and in video or digital mediums.
